Entering another
culture is a positive, challenging experience, expecially if one intends
to live it and call it home. While life in Mexico was more spontaneous
and every day an adventure to control frustration, I needed to explore
the deeper levels of these adopted roots. I wanted to get beyond the
obvious richness of the landscape and the bolder colors, to find a
truth and understanding that would parallel my own growth. I looked
at fertility symbols and explored the images of prehispanic history.
Layering color and abstraction became successful tools. Most of this
series has not been exhibited in the USA and is in corporate and private
collections in Mexico. Prints are available of most of the works
in this series.
